Bengal Government transferred 108 police inspectors

The West Bengal government on Friday (July 3, 2026) transferred 108 police inspectors across the state as part of a routine administrative exercise aimed at improving policing and public service, officials said.

Based on the order of the police directorate, inspectors serving in the district police units, detective divisions, traffic units, CID, SCRB, GRP and several commissionerates have been transferred to new assignments with immediate effect.

Among the transfers, Chandra Sekhar Ghosal, who was serving as Inspector in Purba Medinipur District Intelligence Branch, has been posted as Inspector in Digha Police Station, while Kamtan Roy will move from Digha PS to DIB in the same district.

Traffic Inspector Manoj Kumar Jha has been appointed as Inspector-in-charge of Contai Police Station, while Debasish Sarkar has been appointed as Traffic Inspector in Purba Medinipur.

The realignment also includes posts in Paschim Medinipur, Hooghly Rural, Bashirhat, Howrah Rural, Barrackpore, Diamond Harbour, Ranaghat, Alipurduar, Dakshin Dinajpur and several other police districts.

“These are routine transfers ordered in the interest of public service. The officers concerned have been asked to join their new postings immediately,” a state government official said.
