On Monday (March 31, 2025), the leaders of the party Bharatiya Janat of West Bengal accused chief ministers Mamata Baerjee of the insult of the Hindu religion by referring to the phrase made during her speech during the annual id-ul-fitr prayers in Kolkata.
When the main minister focused on the Red Road assembly, he said, “I do not support (Ganda Dharm – Dirty Religion) created by this party Jumla.” Mrs. Banerjee often described BJP as Jumla party. The leader of the opposition of Suvend Adhikari asked which religion the main minister refers to when she said “dirty religion”.
“Which religion did you specifically refer to? Sanatan Hindu Dharma? What kind of provocative manifestation did you presented on the red road on the occasion of the id-fitr?” The leader of BJP asked.
The leader of the BJP, who accused the Chief Minister of Weapons religion, asked that it was a religious event or a political program. “Why did you intentionally mong of hatred with intentional intention to create hostility among communities?” Mr. Adhikari said.
During her speech at the Assembly, the main minister’s ID stressed unity and claimed that “RAM and Baam (BJP and left)” are trying to stimulate riots. She warned Muslims not to fall into the trap laid by the opposition.
State President BJP Sukant Majumdar also raised questions about the use of the phrase of the “dirty religion” by the main minister. “He is Sanatan Dharma” Ganda Dharm “for the main Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee? Despite numerous anti-Induistic, he does not have the courage to ridicule Hindy and mock their faith,” Mr. Majumdar said. BJP leadership has made similar accusations of insulting the Hindu religion when the main minister dubbed Maha Kumbh as “Mrityur Kumbh (Kumbh of Death)”.
The war of words broke out at a time when BJP leadership encourages Hindy to participate in a large number of RAM parades planned on April 6. The remarks increased the municipal abyss in the state, when the arson reports have already been reported from some areas of Mala and Murshidabad.
