The inhabitants of Belur in the Hassan district in Karnataka, 22 September, carried out purification rituals in the Ganesha temple, where the idol was desecrated on September 20.
The devotees carried water from the pond in the historic temple of the canal and cleaned the temple spaces. The priests made Homas and offered special prayers of Lord Ganesha in the presence of Belur Mla HK Suresh and others.
Protest against desecration
The inhabitants, led by the MLA and others, took a protest march condemning the incident. They marched in the parade from the Channakeshava temple to Basaveshware Circle. In the protest, the MLA HK Suesh of BJP, a former MLA Lingesh from JD (S) and others.
The woman, the resident of the city of Hassan, allegedly desecrated Ganesha Idol in the temple of September 20. September 21, the Hassan police arrested Leelamma, who allegedly placed the slippers on the idol. The woman is reportedly mentally unstable.
