
The 27 -year -old Begimpet inhabitants were cheated on more than 3.5 GBP Lakh, under a telegram -based fraud in which cyber fraudsters were representatives of the GOIBIBO promotion and attracted the victim to the promises of fast commissions through the task -based hotel.
Fraud developed when the victim received a message in the telegram application and the following call of WhatsApp from individuals who claimed to represent “Goibibo India Promotions”. They introduced a system that allegedly paid users for evaluating hotels through a telegram link. After completing several tasks, the victim received small commissions, initially 970 GBP, followed by 17 109 GBP seemingly attributed as a reward for participation. Early payments have created the illusion of legitimacy and supported further involvement.
22. The victim, which is convinced together with the assurance of quick profits, invested in the program 1 Lakh 1.
The fraudsters then directed the victim to a manipulated website that showed a negative balance in the account wallet and pushed it to “recharge” the funds to continue making money and restore the expected losses. According to this pretext, the victim transferred on the same day 88 027 GBP and 1 lakh, followed by 23 June another 1 69 882 GBP.
Since the false website still showed an alarming deficit, it reached 5 Lakh, the fraudsters tried to blackmail more money by hanging prospects for the return of 14-15 ₹. Only at this point did the victim realized that the operation was fraudulent, and announced the matter by dialing the National Line of Assistance in Computer Crime, 1930.
The Cyber Crime Crime Hyderabad has been reserved by the case and is under investigation.
