
An art installation created using collected waste materials at Shanghumughom Beach and highlighting the impact of human neglect on coastal spaces.
Demonstrating a strong model of youth-led civic action, Marian College of Architecture and Planning, Marian Edu City, Kazhakuttam, Thiruvananthapuram, in association with ISOLA (Indian Society of Landscape Architects) Kerala Chapter organized ‘M-YUVA (M-Youth) ‘Clean Beach Drive’ at Shanghumu Beach on the second day.
The program witnessed the active participation of around 200 students and the public. Along with the systematic beach cleaning, an awareness-based art installation was created using collected waste materials from the beach, highlighting the impact of human neglect on coastal spaces. The program was started by parish priest Fr. Dr. AR John, Manager, Marian Edu City (MCAP). parish priest Fr. The welcome address was given by Abin Stanley, Bursar, MCAP. The art installation, led by renowned artist Shanoj PC, reflected the reality of the trash left on the beaches. On this occasion, the students made a collective environmental commitment. A lecture was also organized at the Marian College of Architecture and Planning with Rajalakshmi Iyer, a leading landscape architect from Singapore. The program was attended by the main prof. Suja Kartha, Chief Program Architect Sheikh Yaseen and Manoj Mohanan, Secretary, ISOLA Kerala Branch.
