
Chairman Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) on Haris said on Saturday that there would be a discussion with Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) to explore the possibility of providing free autorickshows for women and Transgender persons who have successfully completed automatic training.
Mr. Haris, who is also MLA for Shantitinar Constituration, spoke at the start of “free training program for a car with a car for transgender and women in the Shantinagar election district” organized by B.Pac in cooperation with CGI at MG Road Metro.
“It is important that women and transgender, as soon as they are trained, are provided by free cars by the government. This will allow them to launch their professional journey with dignity and achieve financial independence,” Haris said.
Emphasizing the social impact of the initiative, Geetanjali Vikram Kirloskar, MD Kirloskar Systems PVT. Ltd., said the entry of women and transgender people into the city authorickshaw fleet would not only seize them, but also encouraged women commuting to travel with certainty at night. “It is commendable that women and transgender people come to deal with automatic management. Their presence in public transport will encourage more women to travel at night. Bengaluru should be in inclusive mobility.”
Revarathy Ashok, the manager and CEO of B.Pac, outlined the program extension, said the second phase would train over 100 participants. “In addition to driving, we will equip them with leadership, English communication, customer service, digital literacy and financial skills,” she said.
