BCCI “tries to accept two to three Olympic disciplines” in the ambitious plan of the Ministry of Sport to be able to individual centers of excellence supported by the company for which this year will begin.
It was mediated by a cricket body rich in cash to meet with the Minister of Sport Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday. The assembly also represented “representatives from 58 corporate houses”.
“Mr. Rajeev Shukla, who represented BCCI at this meeting, said that the Council is willing to accept two to three Olympic disciplines and would let the Ministry decide what the disciplines would be,” the source said in the sports ministry.
“The ministry welcomes it. Our plan is to build Olympic centers for every sport that would train the 100 to 200 best in the country and remember the current and other Olympic cycle.
“There were 58 businesses at today’s meeting and all of them wanted to support this plan,” the source added.
At present, India has 23 national centers of excellence operated by the Indian Sports Authority (SAI). Of these, only three devices with one sport dedicated to the box (Rohtak), swimming (Delhi) and shooting (Delhi). The two largest NCOe, which is more sports, are Patiala and Bengaluru.
Mandaviya again and again repeated his obligation to the idea of individual Olympic centers and stated that inspiration for him came after observing the operation of training facilities in Japan, USA and Australia.
BCCI supported Olympic sports in the past by providing financial assistance to the National Sport Development Fund (RS 50 Crore in 2008) and the Indian Olympic Association (RS 8.5 Crore last year before the Paris Olympics).
The board also gave the RS four crore at the money prices winners of the Medal of the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021, including one crore for the gold medalist Javelin.
However, it would be the first time that the Council is involved in shaping talents if the methods work.
The head of the BCCI office carrier was not on the details of Thursday’s meeting with Mandaviya and only said that “things would be communicated if something crystallized.”
Eye puzzle
Indian lack of growth in sport, such as football and tennis, often led to a debate about whether it was good to ban card holders in India (OCI) to represent the country in 2008. He can only compete with Indian passport holders.
The ministry’s source said the abolition of this prohibition was considered to ensure that the “Indian sports ecosystem could be strengthened”.
However, the discussion is in a very early phase and would include a thorough “exchange of ideas” among the parties.
The consideration was mainly spinning around football and tennis.
The All India (AIFF) Football Federation was particularly interested in the OCI permission, although there are no major names that could be considered for India, even if the ban is canceled.
“At this point, it is just a preliminary discussion, it would take a lot of time for something to move on this front,” the source said.
In tennis, the legendary Vijay Amritraj Son Son Son Son among prominent American passport holders who could not play for India because of the ban on OCI card holders.
“There is no harm in the re -evaluation, because we want the best of our talent to represent us. But again it is a very long way,” said the source.
The ministry’s pressure continued to prevent the judiciary from the Sports Administration and found that Mandaviya was busy meeting with rival fractions in different federations to solve his differences.
“The aim is to ensure that the judges do not drive sports. This is not a solution. The federation must be in charge of and the ministry is trying to best damage the athletes or cause litigation,” the ministry’s source said, quoting the recent resolution of the administrative clutter of wrestling.
Inauguration Games Khelo India Beach will take place in DIU from 19 to 24 May. Over 1,000 athletes from 36 countries and trade unions will be expected to compete here.
