
Following the tragic strike during the celebration of the title Bengaluru (RCB), which claimed 11 lives and retained more than 50 wounded, the Board for cricket in India (BCCI) is set to implement strict rules regulating the IPL and road processions.
In an interview for today’s exclusively with India, Secretary of BCCi Devyit Saikia confirmed that the Board of Directors heals this matter with the highest seriousness and “takes every aspect of risk very seriously to avoid future accidents”. Saikia added that formalized instructions will now be mandatory for all teams that wish to celebrate publicly after IPL.
Although BCCI previously distanced himself from the incident Bengaluru and claims that this had no role in organizing the event, Council has since created a three -member committee Design and implement safety protocols for future celebrations. This step comes in the middle of the growing public interest and criticism of chaotic scenes in Bengalur.
New BCCI rules for IPL victory celebrations
In order to ensure public security and responsibility after RCB StamPede, BCCI proposed the following instructions:
- No team will be allowed to organize celebrations within 3-4 days of winning the title.
- Quick turnover will not be allowed to avoid hurried and poorly managed events.
- Before organizing any celebration, teams must find formal permission from BCCi.
- No events can be organized without prior written permit from the Board of Directors.
- Mandatory security protocols of 4 to 5 degrees
- The multilayer presence of security will be necessary in all places and during transit.
- The safety arrangement must cover team movements from the airport to the event venue.
- Ensuring full protection of players and employees during the schedule of the event.
- Permission must be obtained from the District Police, State Government and Local Authorities
- All celebrations must be green bodies of civil and law enforcement authorities to continue legally and safely.
What happened at the RCB celebration in Bengalur?
The IPL RCB Mareční title caused immense celebrations in Bengalur. 4th June team brought a trophy home to welcome the hero. The Karnataka CM Siddaramaiaha in Vishana Juda was felicitated for the first time, followed by plans for a fan event at the M Chinnaswamy stadium.
Despite the traffic police Bengaluru, which, due to the expected congestion, refused to permit for the ceremonial process of the bus, publicly announced the franchise event. Although the show was eventually canceled, more than two fans of the Lakh have gathered in this area in the evening – Far exceeded the capacity of the stadium. The result was a complete chaos that led to decline in front of the gates.
The event, hastily organized just a day after the IPL final, was criticized for poor planning and lack of coordination. Several were injured and 11 tragically lost their lives. After the incident:
- The RCB marketing manager and two DNA entertainment were arrested.
- The secretary of the KSCA and the treasurer resigned and took up moral responsibility.
The Karnatak government held RCB and BCCi responsible and quoted serious release in the area of the security and control of the crowd.
With these new measures, BCCi focuses on preventing the tragedy of Bengalur. As Saikia said, the Council will no longer tolerate free planned celebrations that threaten lives.
