The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was indefinitely suspended after a sharp escalation in military tension between India and Pakistan, induced by a terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The decision came the day after the match between Kings Kings and Delhi Capitals was abandoned in Dharamsale to warn the air raid in the nearby regions of Jammu and Pathankot.
The Board of Trustees in India (BCCI) announced on Friday after an emergency meeting with the tournament officials and was the main fear of reference to the safety of players, support employees and fans.
Head of BCCI official, who confirmed the development of the PTI, noted: “It does not look nice that cricket continues when the country is in the war.” The suspension throws the rest of the season to be scheduled for May 25 in Calcutta, to complete uncertainty.
Previously the match 8th May between Kings Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsale was suspended Midway for alerting Air Raid in nearby Jammú and Pathankot. The spectators were evacuated in the middle of fear of a possible strike and raised serious concerns about the viability of the tournament.
Although the chairman of IPL ARUN Dhumal initially indicated that 9th May between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengalur will continue as planned, the deteriorating security situation led to conversion.
“We are reviewing the situation. It is rapidly evolving. Any decision will be made after consulting with government agencies and logistics considerations,” Dhumal PTI said.
BCCI confirmed that the league is suspended until the next announcement and closely coordinates the authorities and is waiting for the official directives.
The decision also drew attention to the overseas cricket records. With many international international players and coaches involved, Cricket Australia released a statement on Friday that she was watching the situation carefully and remains in contact with her staff in India.
The tension was significantly escalated on Wednesday evening when the Pakistani army launched a coordinated wave of drones and missile attacks aimed at 15 Indian cities. The key placement included Awantipora and Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir; Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhian, Kapurthala, Adamprs and Bathinda in Pandjab; Chandigarh; Nal, Phalodi and Uttarlai in Rajasthan; and bread in gujarat.
In response to India, on Friday morning, she started a counterattack and deployed Kamikaza drones to destroy the Pakistani installation of air defense near Lahore. Other attempts to strike in the Jammu region – including Satwari, RS Pura, Arnia and Samba – were successfully captured by Indian air defense systems, preventing victims and damage.
