In reports that fans of cricket all over the country shocked and emotional, former Indian captain Virt Kohli reportedly reported BCCi of his intention to leave the test cricket before the upcoming England. Sources say Kohli will probably not represent in a series of five matches from June 20, because he considers leaving the longest format.
The timing could not have been more dramatic. A few days ago, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the tests and closed a significant chapter of the Indian cricket. Both veterans have already withdrew from the T20 International after a shift in their career last year in the Indian World Cup in Barbados. Now that Kohli is probably followed by Rohit, the Indian cricket faces the moment of the crossing for which several were prepared.
Senior BCCI official reportedly addressed KohliHe urges him to reconsider. Selectors should soon meet to complete the Group for England Tour, which also means the beginning of the new World Cup cycle. The loss of Kohli at this intersection would be the main blow.
Kohli has a heavy run this season. In the trophy of Border-Gavascar against Australia, he managed only 186 runs in five tests. In the opening match in Perth, it reached the century, but its appearance then disappeared. Yet his career figures speak for themselves – 8,895 runs in 105 matches, of which 27 centuries. Even in the slump remains one of the largest India.
No wonder the fans flooded social media when the news broke. Many of them begged BCCi to do everything possible to keep Kohli a little longer in the white.
No virat kohli, you just can’t do it, not right now, please, I am not in a state to carry this trauma ?? – IKSHVAKA (@IKSHVAKA4) 10 May 2025
A person who has been so good. If someone notice that it was the right shots of the Virt Kohli and I saw the old one back, but DK, how it ended the tour.
Consider England @imvkohli . I always love you ?? pic.twitter.com/veudnv9voq– Ayush (@yush_18) 10 May 2025
My grandfather: When the chapel of nine left, he stopped watching cricket.
My father: He stopped when Sachin retired.
If Virat Kohli: I will retire from the tests today.
BCCI, please convince him to stay – the best cricket needs his king pic.twitter.com/nhcqnuv6x8– Sports (@the_sports_x) 10 May 2025
If Kohli leaves, India will face a heavy challenge. Medium order, no Rohit, will suddenly look much less experienced. Players like Kl Rahul, SHUBMAN GILL and YASHASVA JAISWAL will have to stand up on this occasion. But for fans it is not just about running or averages – it is about watching one of the modern giants of the game and maybe too early.
