NEW DELHI: The relationship between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) could be frozen following the expulsion of Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL on Saturday. It is learned that the BCCI has postponed the planned August white-ball tour of Bangladesh. TOI has learned that the BCB has also called an emergency meeting late on Saturday night to discuss their likely response to the development. It may be recalled that the BCCI had canceled its previous tour of Bangladesh this year following rising diplomatic tensions between the two nations. BCCI representatives also refused to travel to Dhaka for the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting.

“BCCI’s stand remains the same. The board will need the government’s approval before embarking on any trip to Bangladesh. BCCI has not confirmed the itinerary yet. This is independent of Mustafizur’s ouster,” a BCCI official told TOI.Meanwhile, the BCB is considering its response to the BCCI. BCB will want India to travel to Bangladesh to boost their cricket finances. However, all eyes are on whether they want to play their T20 World Cup matches in India next month. “BCB is considering all options. They need to see how far this tension can go. They will also see if they can approach the ICC to move their T20 World Cup matches,” a source told TOI.
