“The whole country and BCCI are proud of our Under-19 side for winning the Under-19 World Cup 2026. The way our team beat England in the final and remained unbeaten in the tournament, we are all proud. BCCI will reward the team with a cash prize of Rs 7.5 crore,” Saikia said.

How India won the U19 World Cup 2026?

India’s victory in the final was built around a massive batting led by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Captained by Ayush Mhatra, India piled up a colossal 411 for 9, putting England under immediate pressure in the record chase.

Sooryavanshi was a standout performer as he smashed a stupendous 175 which turned the title fight into a one-sided contest. The left-hander reached his century in just 55 balls, the second-fastest hundred in Under-19 World Cup history, after already racing to a 32-ball fifty. He then produced an even quicker second burst, bringing up his next fifty in just 23 deliveries as England struggled for a reply.

Chasing 412, England never really settled despite a struggling century from Caleb Falconer. The Indian bowlers struck at regular intervals, ensuring that the chase never picked up steam before England were bowled out for 311.
