Belagavi City Corporation has adopted a resolution to facilitate the transfer of civilian areas from the military canton in old urban areas. This follows after the state government’s instruction to all canton cities in the state.
This question was discussed at the recent session of the Financial Committee. Members adopted a resolution to facilitate the transmission of residential colonies, markets, bungalows, land and open spaces in the canton area. This differs from the earlier BCC decision to take over only the residential areas in the canton.
At the meeting were the chairman of the Committee Netravati Bhagwat, Mayor of Mangesh Pawar, Deputy Mayor of Vani Joshi and others.
This follows the meeting with the deputy commissioner Mohammad Roshan, who communicated the officers of the state government’s decisions. The state government asked all city local authorities to apply for a decision to transfer all components of the areas of civil use in the areas of military cantons. Around 1763 acres of soil in Belagavi City is controlled by the Cantonment Board, which differs from BCC. Since the BCC is striving for the transfer of all civilian areas, the BCC will be administered in the future by a significant part of the city after the transfer is affected.
Meanwhile, members of the Association of Social Affairs Belgaum Cantonment (BCRWA) urged the state government to build a new deputy commission office for 102 acres of abandoned military farm in Kanton, rather than far from Suvarna Juda, Kanabargi or Hindalga now.
Ministers of Satish Jarkiholi and Laxmi Hebalkar have recently seen this site together with the current DC premises. The abandoned military farm lies in the heart of the city, near the Bogarves circle. This would be suitable for the DC office. Bcrwa previously designed an abandoned military dairy farm as a suitable place, which is an idea awarded by the Minister of Defense.
The current DC office area is overcrowded and inaccessible during public protests. Other locations included in the narrower selection are far away and far from the city. Moving the DC office to distant areas is impractical. It is better to use 102 hectares of centrally located, unoccupied countries of the former military dairy farms. The Ministry of Defense is willing to transfer land to the state government as part of the “exchange scheme of the same value. It may have a full government office complex with road -lined roads, sufficient parking and Maidan for public assembly.
The letter was signed by the holders of the Omarfarooq Nawab, Ranjan Shetti, Nitin Khot and others.
