With the increase in Dengue cases in Bengalur, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the main commissioner Tushar Giri Nath on Thursday ordered officials to take immediate measures to reduce the dissemination of illness in the city.
When he focused on the virtual meeting held in Bengalur’s solid waste Ltd. (BSWML), emphasized the need for strict action to prevent water stagnation and mosquito breeding. “The city began in the city and we must act immediately. Public awareness is essential and citizens should be educated about the prevention of dengue,” he said, adding that punishments will be imposed on those who are not treated.

To check the focus, Mr. Giri Nath ordered officials to cooperate with more departments, including health, gardening, forest, BSWML, rainwater and drainage to road infrastructure. He stressed that the aquatic areas must be immediately identified and cleaned.
Special focus will be devoted to the announcement of higher number of dengue cases. “The mosquito reproduction sites should be identified and immediate fogging and spraying of insecticides should be carried out,” he ordered.

Node officers and entomologists to be named
Harsha Gupta, the main secretary, the Department of Health and Family Care, also part of the meeting, said there would be strict measures to monitor. “Fever clinics will be set up in high -risk areas and those who cannot maintain hygiene on open land and construction sites will be punished,” he said. He also ordered officials to provide insecticides once a week.
To streamline the monitoring, a separate node officer, along with eight entomologists, one for each zone will be appointed for each BBMP zone. The state government will also provide the necessary dengue test kits.
Surralkar Vikas Kishhor, a special commissioner (health), BBMP, revealed that 15 282 cases of dengue in 2024, and 2,335 cases in 2022 were reported in Bengalur in 2024. 329 cases were recorded from January to 31 this year. In order to fight the focus, the action plan of the zone is being prepared, he added. “Last year, the reproduction points of mosquitoes were identified and a fine of £ 24 were imposed on violators,” he said.
