Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) presented in the last budget for the department of Bengaluru and the resistance plan (BCAP). One department in each of the legislative assembly constituency will be selected for implementation in the fiscal year 2025-26. In addition, the budget emphasizes a strong focus on measures to save energy throughout the city.
The aim of these initiatives is to bring interventions focused on the climate level at local level and ensure sustainable development of cities throughout the city. The budget stated: “In order to implement BCAP and focus on measures on the Earth climate, one department will be identified in each constituency. Expenditure of 28 Crore has earmarked for its implementation.”
On the energy queue, the budget proposed to align its infrastructure with the Building Code to protect the Energy Karnataka (2018). As part of this, BBMP will occupy public energy audit, supported by Crore 2 and assess the efficiency in offices, schools and BBMP health center. The budget has also proposed solar roof installation and measures of reducing emissions.
51.69 crore for forest wing
To strengthen environmental efforts, the forest wing of BBMP will receive 51.69 Crore for increasing green coverage, urban forestry and protection of wild animals. This year, the civic body plans to grow and educate five lakh seedlings and use CSR funds and community participation. In addition, a rehabilitation unit for wild animals in Bannerghatta Biological Park will be operated, along with a dedicated team to deal with animal conflicts.
Urban Greenery was also preferred in the budget. The budget was proposed by the establishment of 14 new parks, which within the 15th Financial Commission grants, including a 20 acre park near Lake Singapura. To improve sustainability, composting units and 125 water storage tanks will be built for cleaning and irrigation.
A total of 92 Crore was earmarked for gardening, parking infrastructure and enhancement of the playground, while another CRORE 118 GBP donated fencing, security and overall park maintenance. In addition, the long -awaited tree census will be completed this year to lead future protection strategies.
The budget also suggested that they represent climatic events and environmental clubs in schools to instill responsibility to the environment. The budget said that students from selected schools and universities will be dealt with by harvesting rainwater, kitchen horticulture and solar roof cladding.
