Bayer Leverkusen Set to Part Ways with Victor Boniface This Summer
Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly ready to move on from Nigerian striker Victor Boniface this summer, according to German sources. Once a key player under manager Xabi Alonso, Boniface has faced a challenging season, losing his starting spot due to injuries and off-field issues. As a result, Leverkusen appear open to cashing in on the forward.
Boniface started the season as one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting talents, leading Leverkusen’s attack with confidence. However, a two-month injury layoff at the end of 2024 saw him fall behind Patrik Schick in the pecking order. The Czech forward seized his opportunity, leaving Boniface on the sidelines.
Leverkusen were already prepared to sell Boniface in January when Saudi club Al-Nassr submitted a €70 million offer, including a lucrative €15 million annual salary for the player. However, the deal collapsed when Al-Nassr turned their attention to Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran instead.
Despite the failed transfer, Boniface remained professional, but his latest off-field incident seems to have been the final straw for Leverkusen. According to Bild, the club is now actively seeking to facilitate his departure and has lowered their asking price to €50 million plus bonuses.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, with reports suggesting they are willing to “do whatever it takes” to secure his signature. However, their primary focus remains on Liam Delap, while Victor Osimhen is a long-term target. Additionally, Boniface has previously expressed little interest in playing in the Premier League, preferring to stay in Germany or move to Spain.
With Leverkusen eager to offload him and a reduced price tag now in place, it remains to be seen which club will take a chance on the talented but troubled striker.
