The Hyderabad-Karnataka Education Society (HKES) has upgraded the Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital in Kalaburagi with modern medical equipment worth over ₹5 crore, giving the institution a vital boost in emergency, surgical and critical care.
Speaking at a press conference after inaugurating the High Dependency Unit (HDU) at the hospital complex in Kalaburagi on November 21, HKES President Shashil G. Namoshi said the emergency department has already started functioning. Due to the growing number of outpatients, a new 40,000 square foot emergency care facility is being built on the fourth floor of the hospital. He said that Basaveshwar Hospital currently provides almost 95% of its healthcare services free of cost, benefiting thousands of patients from the Kalyana region of Karnataka.
Mr Namoshi listed the newly installed equipment, including state-of-the-art operating tables, anesthesia machines, modern electrosurgical generators, modern OT lights, minimally invasive modular operating theatres, multi-parameter monitors, EKG and ABG machines, ventilators, injection pumps, ultrasound machines and sterilization systems. The upgrade also includes a wide range of diagnostic and support equipment such as eye testing equipment, laboratory centrifuges, incubators, laminar air flow systems, microscopes, portable X-ray units, radio frequency units, blood bank machines and a central monitoring system. These additions significantly improve the hospital’s surgical, diagnostic and critical care capabilities, Mr. Namoshi said.
He said the company also focused on strengthening academic and training facilities. The institution has doubled the intake of nursing posts from 100 to 200. Besides, 150 skilled nursing staff have already been recruited, with more appointments underway to meet the growing healthcare demands, and a new Cath lab is also expected to be commissioned in the next 7-8 months, Mr. Namoshi said, adding that an amount of ₹50 crore has been allocated annually to ensure better provision of hygiene and patient care annually. at Basaveshwar Hospital.
