
In view of the Gram Panchayat elections scheduled for December 11 and 14, the Cyberabad police issued orders restricting public gatherings in several areas of Shamshabad zone. The order, issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police B. Rajesh, prohibits assembly of more than five people in constituencies falling under 10 police stations in the zone including Shamshabad, Kothur, Nandigama, Shadnagar, Kondurg, Chowdarigudem, Keshampet, Kadthal, Amangal and Talakondapally.
The notification came into effect to maintain law and order, ensure public tranquility and prevent any breach of peace during the two phases of polling. The restrictions will remain in effect from 5:00 p.m. on December 9 to 12:00 p.m. on December 12 for Phase I and from 12:00 p.m. on December 12 to 3:00 p.m. for Phase II.
The ordinance also provides for a complete ban on unlawful assemblies and public gatherings for a specified period.
Police said anyone found violating the restrictions would be prosecuted under applicable laws.
