In a letter to Mr. Jaishankar, Mr. Badal said that the Sikhs around the world are deeply and worried about Mr. Hegseth’s statement and hoping for an early solution to solve the problem.
He urged the minister to take this question to the appropriate level to ensure that this discriminatory decision is not made and the Sikhs can practice their faith as before.
Mr. Badal said that the decision is contrary to the principle of freedom to practice one’s religion – the cornerstone of American democracy.
He said that the US government categorically recognized the right of members of the US armed forces to maintain its external symbols of religious identity, including turban and beard, allowing Sikh Capt officers in 2010. Sikh Preet Singh Lamba and Dr. May. Kamaljeet Singh Kalsi.
