
Bangladeshy cricket council (BCB) was suspended by Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Chittagong Kings after completing the settlement agreement with SQ Sports Enterprise Ltd., former team owners, over long -term financial violations.
BCB says franchise owes more than 46 crore Taka and combines unpaid fees of the first two BPL Seasons (2012, 2013), arrears from the season 2025 and 12 years of interest.
According to BCB SQ Sports, he repeatedly did not fulfill financial and contractual obligations, including franchise fees, taxes and salaries for players and officials. Despite repeated reminders and legal steps since 2013, no payment has been made.
The settlement signed in September 2024 was also unsatisfied, which caused the Board of Directors to end the agreement 22 July 2025 and continue legal proceedings.
In the last season of 2025 BPL, the kings also failed to pay the salary of head coach Shaun Tait, salaries of players and the wage of support employees.
Even Shahid Afridi, who was brought as a brand ambassador, was not paid full of reward – something Samira Quader Chowdhury called a personal matter.
There were also disputes over payments with hostess Yasha Sagar, which during the tournament led to legal announcements and counterproposals.
Chittagong Kings ends up as a runner
Kings enjoyed the powerful campaign BPL 2025, which finished second in the league scene with eight wins and four losses from 12 matches, gathered 16 points and a net running rate +1.395. After the early failure in the league, the kings found their rhythm and transferred the dynamics to the play -off.
