Mushfiqur Rahim scored his 100th Test with a landmark century in Dhaka on Thursday, November 20, becoming only the 11th batsman in the history of Test cricket to score a hundred in his century match. The Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman reached the milestone early on the second morning against Ireland, nudging Jordan Neill off his pads for a single to move from 99 to 100 as the crowd at the Shere Bangla National Stadium erupted in celebration.

Unbeaten day 2 resume at 99Rahim took the situation in his stride, bowled the entire over after which he took three balls to reach the landmark. Ireland began the morning with disciplined lines, with Neill rejoining the attack and Matthew Humphreys continuing from the other end after taking a sharp turn on Day 1. Expectations grew when Litton Das fired a single off the first ball of the 91st over to deliver the strike to Rahim. Neill followed with a tight serve and made a mass break around the ground.
The breakthrough came in the third delivery of the over. Neill attacked Rahim’s pads with a fuller ball and the veteran calmly worked him to the width of square leg to score a century built on patience, composure and experience. The Dhaka crowd immediately stood up to acknowledge one of the most enduring figures in Bangladeshi cricket.
Rahim’s achievement places him alongside an exclusive list of players – including Colin Cowdrey, Javed Miandad, Ricky Ponting, Graeme Smith, Hashim Amla, Joe Root and David Warner – who reached three figures in their respective 100th Tests.

Ireland showed encouraging improvement in the opening half of day one, with Andy McBrine offering control and Humphreys creating natural variations. But once Rahim settled in, Bangladesh gradually asserted control over the innings.
With the hosts well placed to extend their total further, Rahim’s milestone stands out as the defining moment of the match – a testament to his longevity and impact on Bangladesh’s rise in Test cricket.
