His remarks came after an inquiry into alleged malpractices and abuse of power in last year’s election submitted its report to the Bangladeshi government. The board is facing pressure from the sports ministry, which has questioned the validity of the election, Bangladesh’s non-participation in the T20 World Cup, which is co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, and allegations of political interference and favoritism within the BCB.The four directors who resigned on April 4 are Saniyan Taneem, Mehrab Alam, Faiazur Rahman and Manjurul Alam.“I will be sitting on my chair, what else can I do? I will be the last one to go,” Aminul told Jamuna TV on Saturday, as quoted by ESPNCricinfo. “I have a very good, dedicated and honest team (in BCB). I want to serve Bangladesh cricket with this team.”“No one is indispensable. I was the only one (Bangladeshi) who worked in the ICC. I’m not saying I’m something huge, but I’m sitting here because of my experience. I left everything to be here to support my country. If this is no longer mine, I’ll look at another path. But I want to support my country.”“Our team (board) is good and dedicated and honest, so I want to work with this team and serve Bangladesh cricket,” he said. “One day we couldn’t work with freedom because outside force has always worried us and still does. Our cricket is stagnant and I have said many times that we are disturbed by outside force and that’s why the pace of our cricket has slowed down.”Aminul said he could not appear before the inquiry committee due to a clash in schedules and instead filed a written reply.

Do you find Aminul Islam’s statement about a dedicated and honest team convincing?
“I did not meet the committee. I was busy in two separate meetings, so the dates for me clashed with their schedule. I replied to them in writing,” he said. “I was not involved in anything (in the council elections). I was involved in one area that is now under investigation. I will not go into details, but I can only say that the ad-hoc committee manages the district sports organization, according to our constitution. It is clearly stated that the names (of councilors) should come from the ad-hoc committee.”“When only three names came from those ad-hoc committees, we were forced to write to them again. We said please send the names from your ad-hoc committee. That’s the only thing I was involved in,” he added.Aminul was appointed president of BCB in May 2025 after replacing Faruque Ahmed as a government-backed director on the board. He later contested the election in October and was elected president.Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal had alleged malpractices and abuse of power against Aminul and withdrew from the election race.
