Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh’s live score, 2 test day 1 Live: Bangladeshi head coach Phil Simmons expressed optimism before the second test against Sri Lanka in Colombo and quoted a strong team performance in a series that increased team morals. Confidence comes after the Bangladeshi recent test achievements, including a drawn series against West Indies in November 2024 and Zimbabwe in April 2025.
The positive momentum of the team stems from their impressive start in the first test and indicates a departure from their typically slow beginnings of the series.
“There is a lot of trust in the way we played. We often start a little slowly in the first series of the series, but this time we came across a run on the ground. That gives us a lot of beliefs,” Simmons told reporters.
The coach appreciated the preparation of the team and the spirit after the draw in Galle.
“Morale was excellent from the beginning. The boys did their work in Dhaka so we could hit the ground.
Simmons shared their assessment of the team’s play and readiness conditions.
“So far it looks like a good goal. I haven’t seen it today, but from what we saw yesterday it looked decent. Tomorrow we’ll come and look like we’ll play as hard as in Galle. There are a few small things we want to improve, and it’s important to either maintain or increase the level we showed in the first test.”
The physical and mental preparation of the team was remarkable.
“Players are doing well. He plays a good cricket in the mood and we had a decent break between the tests. They are mentally strong and physically prepared. We are at the challenge,” he added.
Bangladesh faces a dilemma of choosing their bowling line -up, and Mehida Hasan Miraz is expected to return after the missing first test for a fever.
“This decision will be made later, depending on what we see on the pitch. We have just arrived on the ground, so we must first assess the conditions before the decision on team balance, whether we go with three sailors or three spinners,” Simmons said.
