The Bangladesh’s temporary government changed the act of 2022 and removed the mention of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a “father of the nation”. The development soon came after the interim administration led by prof. Mohammed Yun brought a new set of currency notes that removed the image of Sheikha Mujibura Rahman.
The new announcement, which brought on June 3, does not refer to Sheikh Mujib as the “Father of the Nation”, while concerning the war in 1971 and the role of freedom fighters. On the other hand, law 2022 called him as Jatir Pita (father of the nation) at several points, while describing the inheritance of the 1971 war.
At the beginning of this week, the Yunus government introduced a number of monetary notes that depicted the pluralistic legacy of Bangladesh, while removing the well -known image of Mujibura Rahman, which can be seen in existing notes on Bangladesh. The Provisional Government prevented the removal of Sheikh Mujibura Rahman from the “Liberation War Act” and said she was still a “fighter of freedom”.
In its statement to the media, the temporary government said: “President of the Bangladesh government of 1971 Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other leaders, such as Tajuddin Ahmed, Mansur Ali and Ahm Quamruzzaman, are still freedom fighters”.
According to the BIR Mukti Joddha category, the Law 2022 included veterans from Mujib Bahini, one of several guerrilla clothing from 1971, as “Freedom” fighters. However, the latest version of the law will skip the mention of Mujib Bahini. The latest announcement means that the surviving members of Mujib Bahini and their family members will not be entitled to the benefits of Bangladesh to the 1971 freedom fighters.
The new definition of freedom fighters, according to the announcement, will include people who have helped the cause of independence by defense and campaigns while they are outside or inside the country.
The new act that added a new section to the definition of freedom fighters included “Associates of Liberation War” or those who “supported freedom of Bangladesh during March 26 to December 16, 1971”.
After the removal of Sheikh Hasina in August 2024, the Provisional Government was formed on alleged excesses committed during the AWII League Rule for 15 years in 2009–2024.
At the beginning of May, the temporary government suspended the political activities of Awami League, co -founded by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, along with Maulana Bhashani and Husyn Shaheed Suhracardy.
The rebellion, which did not break Sheikh Hasin, also focused on symbols related to her father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Soon after Mrs. Hasin’s departure 5.
