The Minister of Finance KN Balagopal said on Saturday that the distribution of pensions on social security for the month of June began, but it will take time for about 62 lakh recipients.
Mr. Balagopal also described as the unfounded accusation of the President of the Keral Pradesh (KPCC) Sunny Joseph that the government did not pay social care in a month. The Minister said that the accusation was made by the Chief of KPCC without understanding the procedures and techniques of pension distribution.
He said that 825.71 crore for retirement was sanctioned on June 20 and the amount was transferred to the relevant banks. The vast majority of beneficiaries received pensions in their bank accounts on Saturday themselves and the remaining people will receive it in the coming days.
Mr. Balagopal, who gives the details of the payment process, stated in his statement that the recipients are collected each month from the 1st to 15th and the list is then completed. Then, based on the number of recipients on the list provided by the director of Panchayat, an order is issued to assign the amount and transfer money. About half of the pensioners will receive money in their bank accounts, he said.
The amount of pensions of recipients who receive the money at home will be transferred to the district cooperative joint registrar. The registrar will transfer the money to a cooperative bank through which the pension is distributed, Balagopal said.
The concerned secretary of the cooperative bank will hand over the list and money to the official assigned to the distribution in each department and he pays the amounts and reports. “The money for social funds advice will be handed over to advice to distribute the amounts,” the Minister said.
In his statement, Mr. Joseph claimed that the Minister of June 16 had announced that the pensions would be distributed to the 20th June, but no one had received any amount yet. The retirement announcement was a trick that influenced voters in the Nilambur election district before Bypoll 19. June.
