Badshah song controversy: Badshah on Saturday apologized via a video on his official Instagram account after being booked for alleged inappropriate lyrics and visuals in his recently released Haryanvi music video, ‘Tateeree’.
“I had no such intention… to do such things for children or women of Haryana,” Badshah said.
“I never intended to say anything objectionable against any woman or child from Haryana, he said. I come from a hip-hop genre where lyrics often show disdainful views of competitors. These are never for any woman or child, now I’m going to do this,” the rapper said in his video.
According to PTI, the Haryana Police has initiated the process of issuing a Look Out Circular against the rapper-musician to prevent him from leaving the country.
Besides, the rapper has been issued notices to remove the music video from all social media platforms, PTI reported citing a police statement.
What is against Badshah?
The series of events comes after the police on Friday registered an FIR under various provisions of the Act on a complaint lodged by a resident of Panchkula. The complainant alleged that Badshah’s recently released music video “Tateeree” used inappropriate lyrics and visuals.
Sections 3 and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986 and Section 296 of the BNS (obscene acts and songs) were slapped against the rapper, a PTI report said.
Badshah’s apology
In his video message, Badshah said that his new song has been released and acknowledged that some people from Haryana were upset because of certain lyrics and visuals used in the song.
“My new song ‘Tateeree’ has been released. I see sentiments of many people from Haryana were hurt because of some of the lyrics and visual representation in the song. I mean I am from Haryana. Those who know me, my language, food and lifestyle, my identity is from Haryana. I am a proud Haryanvi,” said Badshah.
“I have always tried to take the Haryanvi language and culture to new heights. But if anyone is hurt, I apologize. I expect you to forgive me as you consider me a son of Haryana,” he added.
What’s next for Badshah?
The Panchkula police issued a formal summons ordering Badshah to appear before the police immediately.
Several police teams have been formed to ensure his arrest and are conducting round-the-clock raids at various possible locations, PTI reported quoting a Haryana Police statement issued on Saturday.
The Haryana State Commission for Women also took cognizance of the song and issued summons to the rapper.
