Babli Barrage gates built across the Godavari River in Nanded District in the presence of engineers of the Telangan and Central Water Commission to maintain the river in the free flow state.
According to the Supreme Court’s order of February 2013, Mahashtra is obliged to keep fire gates open for 120 days during the flood season from 1 to 28 October annually to protect the coastal rights of subsequent people. Similarly, the gates are raised to one day 1. March to meet the needs of drinking water downstream.
In the absence of streams from upstream in the main river in the main river Sriramsagar, Gateway project on Godavari in Telangana, received only 4.55 TMC FT Water this season with the help of rains in the local river basins downstream from Singur and Nizamsagar projects built through Manjeera. Last year, the SRIAMSAGAR project was received by the flood 293.5 TMC FT Water.
