While the debate on the Tunnel Road project continues, B -Sile has prepared designs of detailed project reports (DPRS) for 13 elevated courses, which extend 126 km, it is estimated to cost 18,000 crore – about 142 crore and km.
Increased corridors are one of the four main infrastructure projects that the government planned for the decongest bengaluru. Others include the Tunnel Road Project, Sanchrayukth – the construction of roads along the participation in rainwater (SWD) and white strike of urban roads.
The initial proposal, which was submitted to the Government in 2024, included buildings of increased corridors covering 110 km, estimated to be around £ 13,200, with the exception of land obtaining. Now the project has been extended to 126 km with estimated costs at 18,000 GBP Crore, except for land obtaining. The state may have to spend another 4,500 to 5,000 GBP in obtaining land.
BS PRAHALLAD, Technical Director of B-Sile, said Hindu that traffic density in several corridors proved higher than originally expected, which led to extending the length of the corridor.
Packages and offers
According to the B-Sile, the work was divided into 13 packages: five packages for sections between 0 and five km, three packages for five and 10 km and five packages for corridors over 10 km.
According to Mr. Prahallad, B-Sile will have two stripes for building 72 km, about 57.14% of the total length, while the remaining 54 km will have two stripes.
The DPR proposal will be submitted to the government on Tuesday. Once approved, B-Sile will float offers for 13 packages with a term 30 months.
B-Sile also invites proposals from the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) for any design modifications.
New technology for Bengaluru
According to the GBA source, ultra -high performance technology (UHPC) will be used to create increased corridors, ensuring greater durability, faster completion and improved aesthetics.
The span of the overpass and metro usually ranges from 18 to 25 meters, sometimes extends to 35 meters. In this project, where UHPC will be used, each range will be formed at 45 to 50 meters with a maximum possible range of 60 meters. The span is the primary road structures located between two support columns or pits.
“Since each range can be 45 to 50 meters long, almost doubled the usual length of the span used in the city, the work can be completed much faster. The longer range also makes structures more visually attractive,” said the official GBA.
Partnership model of public and private sector
While the model of the public and private sector partnership (PPP) is the preferred choice for financing, B-Sile has not yet completed this approach. The decision will also depend on whether the government decides to include toll plasma or make elevated corridors free of charge.
Smile B also has to complete the compensatory model for those who lose the ground for the project. The considered possibilities include portable development rights (TDR), the ratio of the floor area (FAR) and direct cash compensation belongs.
Previously, selection procedures of 17,698 Crore for the Tunnel Road project were hovering in July, while working on white topping is already underway. Smile B will soon begin the Sanchrayukth project.
Although the Tunnel Road and Sanchrayukth projects attracted extensive criticism from the public, the government remains firm that it is moving forward with them.
However, the public was not pleased due to the potential impact of the environmental environment. Ranjith Kumar, Koramangaly resident, said that Ejipura’s overpass remained incomplete almost ten years after the construction of the construction. “There are several overpasses such as Ejipura, which are still unfinished, even though they were launched years ago. These elevated corridors are also likely to meet the same fate,” he said.
