Announcing a key organizational change, Trust Treasurer Govind Dev Giri Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on Monday said that Krishna Mohan has been appointed as the interim general secretary of the Trust following the resignation of Champat Rai.
Giri said the Trust accepted the resignations submitted by General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Anil Mishra in accordance with its constitution. He termed the alleged theft during the counting of donations as “disgraceful” and said, “General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Anil Mishra have tendered their resignations… As per the constitution of the trust, the resignation is deemed accepted… We have accepted the resignation.”
He added, “Krishna Mohan ji is now the interim general secretary.”
A key meeting of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust was held in Ayodhya on Monday to discuss alleged financial irregularities and misappropriation of temple donations.
The meeting, which was held at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex, was attended by Trust President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, according to ANI. Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad also participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
“It has been decided to hold the scheduled meeting of the Trust – originally set for July 11 – as soon as possible; consequently, we have convened it based on the information shared with everyone today, July 6. The meeting was attended by Honorable Chairman Mahant Nritya Gopal Das Ji Maharaj; Honorable Shankaracharya Ji Maharaj; Yug Pururush Prawaish Parmanand; Pejawar, our new Trustee Krishna Mohan Ji and Ayodhya District Collector Shashank Tripathi Ji, so this very important meeting, attended by the entire quorum, was a long and successful session that brought everyone together,” Giri said.
Who is Krishna Mohan?
Krishna Mohan is a graduate of Lucknow University and has a diverse professional background spanning public service and administration.
He spent a significant part of his career in the Atomic Energy Department before joining the Indian Forest Service (IFS), Maharashtra cadre, from where he retired after serving in a senior position.
Apart from his administrative career, Mohan is actively involved in social work in Hardoi and contributes to various welfare initiatives.
What did Krishna Mohan say?
Krishna Mohan alleged that weaknesses in the Trust’s administrative and operational systems were exploited by others. He mentioned that his immediate priority will be to strengthen internal processes, address outages and implement measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again in the future.
“I have been entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out the duties of the acting general secretary until a new general secretary is appointed. Whoever is found guilty in this matter, we will insist that they receive appropriate punishment in accordance with justice and we will stand firm. We are all deeply saddened by the events that have taken place; everyone has suffered, including the devotees of Ram,” Krishna told ANI Mohan.
He added: “There were certain deficiencies in the management and operations which were exploited by others. Therefore, my primary effort will be to plug these gaps and correct the mistakes. I will do my best to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future. The prevailing atmosphere has somewhat tarnished the image of our Trust and created a sense of mistrust in the society. We will take all necessary steps to dispel this negative trust…”
