Industry and Commerce Minister TG Bharath said awareness is the key to cancer prevention and early detection enables easy treatment and recovery during an awareness program for sanitation workers organized by Bachu Janakiram Foundation on the occasion of World Cancer Day in Kurnool on Wednesday.
The program was held to raise awareness about the symptoms of cancer, the importance of tests to identify the disease and other aspects of cancer prevention. Meanwhile, the cancer vaccine was administered to children of sanitation workers in the age group of 9 to 14 years.
In an awareness programme, Mr. Bharath advocated the need to create awareness about life-threatening diseases among the public. “One should not panic or delay treatment and tests. A healthy lifestyle, balanced diet and exercise will reduce the chance of developing cancer,” he said. He said that both the government and voluntary organizations should create awareness among the people.
Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) Commissioner P. Viswanatha appreciated the gesture of Bachu Janakiram Foundation, which is providing 2,500 free vaccines to the children of sewage workers. He claimed that the corporation prioritized the welfare and health of its employees.
