The top of the best Indian runner Steeplechase Avinash Sable has suffered a serious knee injury, which will probably be a barrier before the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo this September. Sable fell during Monaco Diamond League early this month. Now he underwent a successful operation in Mumbai in the care of Dr. Dinshaw Parddiwala at Kokilaben Hospital.
Just a minute to the race, Sable took the ugly fall on the water jump running by kicking another athlete forward, leading to a torn front cross (ACL) and a damaged meniscus. The injury prevents his chance of competition for the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo, Japan this September.
The injury came in a very difficult time, because ACL and Meniscus injury usually recovers for six months to a year, depending on how bad they are and how well they are recovery. The World Athletics Championship is less than two months away, which makes Sable fit in time.
“He will relax and should be fine in one or two weeks to the maximum,” said his former coach Amrish Kumar in the earlier update that the injury was not serious, while the latest news shows that it is more serious than first.
Sable, 30, is not a foreign adversity. Double Olympian, again defined the landscape of Indian run. From the modest beginnings in rural mahara to the name of the household in Indian athletics, Sable violated barriers with its tireless work ethics and discipline.
He holds the National Record in 3000m Steeplechase with an impressive 8: 09.91, brand on the Paris Diamond League 2024. Over the years he also won a silver medal on the Commonwealth Games, won gold at Asian games and Indian record in the middle of the marathon 1:30. Nothing inspiring.
In a sincere report shared on the social media, Sable expressed gratitude to his medical team and committed that he would return stronger.
“During the Monaco Diamond League, I suffered ACL and meniscus injuries on my right knee, completed my operation under Dr. Dinshaw Parddiwal and his team in the Kokilaben hospital, which I am grateful for the words.
Sable known for its resistance, undoubtedly approaches its rehabilitation with the same focus that has so far defined his career.
