The Civil Aviation Authority today issued a list of guidelines to tighten aviation security in the wake of the Delhi blast that killed 13 and injured several others on Monday.
The authority has asked airports, airstrips, heliports and others to ensure increased surveillance and 100% CCTV availability. He also ordered them to thoroughly check PNRs, passengers and cargo and conduct full inspections of aircraft and their catering services.
The aviation watchdog further ordered airports to carry out regular inspections of terminals, installations and parking areas. It also made secondary rank checks mandatory for all flights.
“In view of the recent blast in Delhi and the consequent enhanced security scenario, it is necessary to strengthen security measures at all civil aviation facilities such as airports, runways, airfields, air force stations, helipads, flying schools, aviation training institutes, etc. to avoid any untoward incident in the country,” BCAS said in a notification dated 10.
The lockdown orders will be in place for three days – from November 10 to November 12 – BCAS said, urging all parties involved to comply with the measures.
The blast in Delhi near Red Fort on November 10 has alerted all agencies across India who are keeping a tight vigil at all important and crowded places.
