Former Congress leader AV Gopinath has been nominated to the board of Guruvayur Devaswom, which manages the famous Sreekrishna temple.
According to reports, Mr. Gopinath, a former MLA, is likely to be appointed as the new chairman of the board.
According to a social media post by Guruvayur Devaswom, two newly nominated members of the management panel, Mr. Gopinath and MU Shinija, will take oath on Sunday. Both were nominated to the panel by the LDF government, she said.
Mr Gopinath, who has maintained a distance from the Congress leadership for several years, was suspended from the party’s primary membership in 2023 due to his participation in the LDF government’s ‘Navakerala Sadas’ programme.
