Hundreds of car drivers urged the government to ensure compensation and introduce measures for social care for them because their income was severely influenced by the Stree Shakti system, a free bus facility for women in the state.
According to them, many women from rural areas traveled to automatic rickshaw to achieve Vizianagararam and other cities of the district. Car drivers gained a living only with tremendous demand for cars only from women travelers.

“Many women depended on cars for their travel needs, because many of them did not have passenger vehicles such as two -wheelers.
The whole Indian trade union Congress-Vizianagaram District Secretary General Bugata Ashok asked the government to establish an exclusive social security council to protect drivers’ interests. “The previous government has provided around 10,000 GBP every year every year within the Vahana Mitra system. The NDA government should revive this system and ensure financial assistance for them,” he added.
According to him, many car drivers who bought vehicles under the loan did not pay the issue in the first September of September to banks with a huge decline in their income from August 15, 2025, when Sheme Shakti started in Vizianagarama and other parts of the state.
The Indian National Trade Union Congress-Vizianagaram District President Modili Kaushik also called on the government to protect the interests of car drivers. “Many graduates have become automobile drivers if there are no other jobs. They have invested a huge personal amount and took bank loans to buy vehicles. Government measures for women are good for women, but they must protect the interests of cars who must also take care of their families,” said Mr. Kushik.
