Police Bengaluru arrested the 21 -year -old AutoCickshaw driver for alleged abuse of a woman from Northeast India after canceling her ride in Uber in Kothanur, northeast of Bengalur.
The driver was identified as Pavan HS, Gunjura inhabitants and Mandy native, the police said. Was taken in judicial custody.
According to the police, there was an incident on October 2, when a woman booked to the authorickshaw from Kyalasanahali near Kothanur to Banaswadi. “He updated he had arrived at the place of pickup. After waiting for six to seven minutes, I took another car and was about to leave when he arrived,” the woman said in her complaint.
She claimed that the suspect had abused her and threatened to speak in Cannada. On the basis of their complaint, the police reserved Kothanur Pavan for offenses, including the outrage of the modesty of a woman, a deliberate insult with the intention of provoking a violation of peace and intimidation of a crime under BNS.
A police officer investigating the case told Hindu that the suspect claimed that a woman was constantly changing the place of pickup and that the instructions she had issued were confusing. He also claimed that she had canceled the ride as well as he was about to arrive. The police recorded his statement and verifies his claims.
