Virat Kohli fails in Perth ODI
Virat Kohli failed to impress in the first ODI at the Optus Stadium, falling to Mitchell Starc in eight balls. India slipped to 21/2 and were eventually restricted to 136/9 in 26 overs in a rain-hit match. Australia chased down a revised target of 131 in 21.1 overs to win by seven wickets.
Along with Kohli, even former captain Rohit Sharma failed to make it big. However, the Indian batting coach Sitanshu Kotak backed the experienced duo to bounce backwith them showing no signs of rust since their return.
“I don’t think so. They were playing the IPL. The preparation was very good. I think it was the weather. It would have been the same if Australia had come out to bat. It’s not easy when there are four or five interruptions and every two overs you go on and come back,” Kotak said.
The Indian team had an intense net session on Tuesday, with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli batting for nearly an hour each. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak said the two looked in good touch during practice – a positive sign for Indian fans ahead of the Adelaide ODI.
