Nagpur violence over the tomb of Aurangzeba
17th March 2025 tension escalated in Nagpur in Maharashtra over the requirements of right -wing Hindu groups to remove the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
The riots began when Vishva Hindu Parisad (VHP) and Bajrang gave a protest, burning a portrait of Aurangzeb, and calling for the demolition of the tomb.
The situation deteriorated after the rumors were spreading that Chadar was burned with the Koranic inscriptions during the protest, leading to clashes between Hindu and Muslim groups.
More than 30 people were injured and more than 105 arrests were carried out. The authorities imposed a ban on walking to manage the situation.

Amit Shah attributed Shivaji Maharaj’s mother, Jijabai, for instilling Swadharm protection and Swainajya. He described Raigad Fort, once the capital of the Marath Empire and the home for Shivaji Samadhi (Memorial), as a source of inspiration for future generations, rather than just for the tourist place.
