The Committee on the Audit of the National Health Death, which this year audited all Covid-19 deaths, considered Covid-19 to be a random finding in 10 out of 11 deaths. The audit of one death awaits and will be completed by Thursday.
Main Minister Siddaramaiaha, who reviewed the situation Covid-19 in the State on Wednesday, said the officials informed him that 10 victims were hospitalized for various co-morbid conditions and did not die at Covid-19.
“Covid-19’s positivity was only a random finding. And the cause of death is attributed to other coorbid conditions. The situation from now on is not alarming and I have ordered medical and medical education departments to work in coordination and gain every Covid-199 death.”
The audit was performed on the recommendation of the State Advisory Committee (STAC).
The main minister said that COVID-19 testing has increased in the state since May. Since the beginning of this month, more than 500 tests have been performed daily. “Over the past 10 days, more than 5,000 tests have been carried out and 862 positive cases have been found. I ordered officials to ensure that all hospitals were ready to properly treat COVID-19 cases. There is no need to panic because the situation is under control,” he said.
The main minister, who stated that there were complaints that private hospitals unnecessarily flee people in the name of Covid-19 tests, ordered officials to ensure that people were not suffered.
In the last 24 hours, up to 28 new cases have been reported, which brought the total number of active cases to 467. Of them, four are treated in hospitals.
Death Covid-19 to be declared after the audit
Minister of Health Dinesh Gunda said that after the main minister’s instructions, every Covid-199 death would be audited from now on to see if it was due to Covid-19 or complications of their coorbid conditions. “At the main minister’s meeting, it was decided that Covid-199’s death should only be announced after an audit to avoid unnecessary panic,” he said.
He said that the number of positive cases increases as the testing has increased. “The level of the test positivity is around 8%. We are testing all serious acute airway cases (Sari) and 5% of Ili. All our hospitals are ready to manage an increase in cases if they exist, and there is no need to panic.
Status likely to limit the test price COVID-19
The health department is considering whether it is necessary to limit the price of COVID-19 tests in private hospitals. “We learned that private hospitals prescribe a panel of other expensive tests along with the COVID-19 test, which is not unnecessary. We have received several complaints and we are considering experts to reduce prices.
On the audit of death, Mr. Gupta said that the victims who were adopted for their coorbed conditions developed saris due to the accumulation of fluids in the lungs. This fluid accumulation was due to the underlying chronic kidney disease or heart problems and not for Covid-19, he explained.
