The Congress on Tuesday (Oct 13, 2026) slammed the BJP over the reported participation scam under the VB-G RAM G scheme, saying that “attacking” the rights of the poor by invoking the name of Lord Shri Ram was its real modus operandi.
Congress general secretary-in-charge Jairam Ramesh shared a screenshot of a media report which claimed that the fraud method had come to light under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act or the VB G RAM G Act, a scheme with a clone app that resembles the official National Mobile Monitoring System (NMMS) app used to mark mass participation on mobile phones.
In a post in Hindi on X, Mr. Ramesh said, “First the theft of donations in the name of Lord Shri Ram; then the attack on the right to 100 days of employment under MGNREGA; and now the scheme of state-sponsored looting of the poor through fake attendance records in the VB-G RAM G scheme!”
First stealing donations in the name of Lord Shri Ram, then attacking right to 100 days employment in MNREGA and now playing government loot on the poor through fake participation in VB-G RAM G! In the name of Ram, attack the poor and loot for the right to employment! This is not just corruption, it is plundering the rights of the poor in the name of trust and employment in the name of faith. Neither true devotion to Lord Shri Ram nor compassion for the poor can be seen in BJP’s politics. Power politics in the name of Lord Shri Ram and attack on the rights of the poor, that is the real trick, character and face of BJP.

He invoked the name of Lord Ram yet attacked the poor and robbed them of their right to employment, Mr. Ramesh said.
“This is not just corruption; it is betrayal of faith and theft of the rights of the poor – all in the name of loyalty and employment,” he said.
BJP’s policies reflect neither true respect for Lord Shri Ram nor empathy for the poor, Mr. Ramesh claimed
“Engaging in power politics and attacking the rights of the poor while invoking the name of Lord Shri Ram – that is the real modus operandi, character and face of the BJP,” Mr. Ramesh said.
The Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, or the VB G RAM G Act, came into effect across the country from July 1, replacing the two-decade-old Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) introduced by the Congress-led UPA.
