Attack on ED officials: Kerala HC seeks reply from state government on bail of accused

The Kerala High Court has asked the state to respond to the bail plea of ​​Kiran PS, one of the accused in the attack on the Enforcement Directorate officials during the May raid at the house of former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

An offense was registered against 25 accused under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act, 2023 and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984 for assaulting and damaging official vehicles. About 300 people were initially charged in the alleged assault. The case will be heard on July 30 in relation to the bail applications of the other two accused.

The ED raided Mr. Vijayan’s houses in Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram in connection with a long-running investigation into whether his daughter T. Veena’s now-defunct firm, Exalogic, received substantial monthly advances from Cochin Minerals and Rutil Limited (CMRL), a mining company, allegedly without rendering any tangible service.
