A Thiruvananthapuram court on Wednesday rejected SFI district president Vijay Vimal’s bail plea filed in connection with a police case related to the violence that erupted after an executive directorate inspection at former chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s house here on May 27.
The bail application was dismissed by Tania Mariam Jose, Class I Magistrate, Thiruvananthapuram. Photographic evidence showed that Mr. Vimal, named as the second accused in the case, had intended to “support the attack” against the ED officials. He also threw a stone at one of the policemen, injuring him above his eye. Granting bail for these offenses at this stage would encourage him to commit such offenses in the future, the court said in a June 3 order.
