Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Adviser Agama Kanduri Srinivasacharyulu, who is also the senior priest at the Sri Padmavati Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanur, emphasized on the process of reconciliation to restore sanctity in the temple after committing an undesirable act.
The Tirupati Regional Center of the Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA), functioning under the Union Ministry of Culture, organized a lecture series on ‘Vaishnava Agama’ in collaboration with the National Sanskrit University (NSU) on Thursday where Mr. Srinivasacharyulu spoke on ‘Prayaschittha Vidhanam in Pavitrotsavam of Sri Pancharatra’ Agama Pancharatra.
Elaborating on the scriptural basis, ritual procedures and theological significance of expiatory rituals as prescribed in the Pancharatra Agama (doctrine of temple worship), he explained how ‘Pavitrotsavam’, a purification ritual performed in temples, ensures the rectification of ritual omissions and preserves sanctity as per Agamic injunction.
Head of the NSU Visishtadvaita Vedanta department prof. Chakravarthy Raghavan emphasized the importance of a systematic study of temple worship practices to avoid omissions.
IGNCA Tirupati Regional Director KTV Raghavan said the lecture series is aimed at promoting a deeper understanding of Vaishnava temple traditions and ritual practices.
Scholars, research students, temple priests and devotees participated in the proceedings.
