The Ministry of the Interior (MHA) ordered the Police Delhi to expand the armed security coverage for the former main minister and leader of the opposition (LOP) Atishi after review. The AAP leader was provided with the “Z” category after the Office took over the office as the main minister in 2024.
This step came after the Police Security Unit in Delhi asked for the MHA on the status of the Atishi security cover. After reviewing the perception of the threat to the MLA MHA, it concluded that there was no significant threat that would guarantee the continuation of the security cover of the “Z” category, the official said.
The Police Security Unit in Dilla had previously identified AAP National Conventter Arvind Kejriwal, which is currently provided with the “Z-Plus” category.
Policy security is awarded on the basis of the assessment of threats carried out by the central news and security agencies at the MHA orders.
“Although the Ministry originally recommended any changes in security measures for Mr. Kejriwal and Mrs. Atishi, Delhi later instructed the police to reduce Atishi’s coverage into the” Y “category,” the official said.
As part of the “Y” security protocol, Mrs. Atishi will now be guarded by a team of approximately 12 staff, including two police commandos.
It also comes with the abolition of certain privileges, such as a pilot vehicle accompanied by the convoy of Mrs. Atishi when she shortly held a cm post.
