Neera Chopra and Arshad Nada (PTI Photo) The highly anticipated clash between the Olympic medalists Neer Chopra and Arshad Nada in the upcoming Diamond League does not have to happen after a recent operation on Nadeem’s calf. Indian and Pakistani javelin stars were ready to compete against each other in Silesia in Poland on August 16, which meant their first meeting since the final of the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. In this unforgettable event, gold won with a stunning throwing of 92.97 m, while Chopra took silver with the best weave of 89.45 m. The duo was expected to face Switzerland next month. However, Nad’s coach Salman Butt, who is currently in England with an athlete, revealed that the ruling Olympic champion is not sure that he will compete in both events. Butt said he focused on the fact that he will fully return in September for the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo. “He (above) is more focused on preparing the World Championship in Tokyo in September, and therefore decided to undergo surgery on his calf muscle, which has been bothering for some time,” Butt said, as the PTI quoted. “I don’t think they will compete against each other until the world,” he added. The procedure was performed by Dr. Ali Bajwa in Spire Hospital in Cambridge. Nad is now undergoing rehabilitation in London. Butt further stated that, depending on his recovery, he could participate in one event before the Tokyo world.
