Atchannaidu calls for more central support for agriculture in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Agriculture, Cooperation and Marketing Kinjarapu Atchannaidu held a series of high-level meetings with Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Union Minister for Agriculture and Social Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister of State for Development of Steel and Heavy Industries, Bhupathiraju Srinivas, enhanced agricultural support for farmers in Varmalfare Central, Bhupathiraju Srinivas, in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Mr. Atchannaida was accompanied by Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. He explained to them the political situation of Andhra Pradesh, development priorities and initiatives of the coalition government to strengthen agriculture, improve farmers’ income and accelerate economic growth.

During his meeting with Mr Chouhan, Mr Atchannaidu sought more central assistance to ensure remunerative prices for farmers, strengthen procurement and marketing systems, expand storage and cold chain infrastructure, promote food processing and value-added agriculture and improve market linkages. The state government has ensured timely supply of quality seeds, fertilizers and pesticides while taking proactive steps to avoid disruption during harvest, he said.

Mr. Atchannaidu emphasized that agriculture remains the backbone of the state’s economy and stressed the importance of promoting horticulture, dairy, livestock, fisheries and aquaculture, as well as promoting mechanization, digital farming, drone technology and water management, especially for small and marginal farmers.

He also sought increased support for crop insurance and compensation for farmers affected by drought, floods, cyclones and other natural disasters. Mr. Chouhan appreciated the state’s initiatives and responded positively to its requests.

In his meeting with Mr. Srinivasa Varma, Mr. Atchannaidu discussed agricultural development, industrialization and rural economic growth, highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s investment potential, infrastructure, ports, coast and skilled manpower.

He emphasized the need for closer cooperation between the center and the state to promote industry along with agriculture for balanced development. Mr. Srinivasa Varma assured continued central support while Mr. Atchannaidu reiterated the coalition government’s commitment to make agriculture more profitable, improve farmers’ incomes and accelerate the economic development of Andhra Pradesh.
