A sudden change in the KEAM-2025 standardization formula (Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical Entervance Test) has felt frustrated and disillusioned because it influenced their expected series.
Many students filed complaints with the government and claimed that the method of normalization used this year was unfair and illogical.
Last year, higher students of the state higher secondary students suffered due to a defective standardization process by Commissioner of the Entrance Examination (CEE) conducting Keam. This year, however, students of CBSE and ICSE face his onslaught.
The Council for the Protection of Schools (USPC), a roofing body of private schools, moved the High Court against the new standardization method. “It is extremely discriminatory and illogical. The acquisition of Toppera brand as a standards of standardization is unfair,” said Jouhar M., President of the USPC district Malappuram.
Several students affected by the new methodology will join this case. T. Fida of Chathamangalam, Kozhikode and Devanarayan of Ponnad, Alappuzha, are between them.
The government decision caused extensive criticism for changing the rules on the eve of the announcement of the results. “The rules of the game cannot be changed after the game,” said Devanarayanan in a complaint about the Minister of Higher Education, and quoted the Supreme Court’s judgment.
A change in the weight of higher secondary signs for mathematics, physics and chemistry from 1: 1: 1 to 5: 3: 2 has also been criticized.
He said CEE has a moral obligation to inform students about such changes in advance. “If they did, it would allow students to adapt their studies and make informed decisions on where to focus,” said Mr. Ajmal.
He also criticized the government for changing the rules “at the time of injury to the game”. “No one can agree to this change regardless of whether they are logical or not,” he said, warning that people looking for a legal medicine would further delay and complicate acceptance through Keam.
While other entrance examinations such as Jee proceeded with their admission processes, Keam was delayed. The problem of standardization is expected to cause further delays in the process.
