At least 34 children have been rescued from a human trafficking ring in Arunachal Pradesh

Police in Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai district rescued 38 people, including 34 children, from a suspected child-trafficking ring.

Police also rescued four adults in connection with suspected illegal placement.

So far, four people allegedly involved in human trafficking or aiding human traffickers have been arrested in connection with the case, police said. “We are investigating the roles of Rupali Padung, the alleged key facilitator, and other persons associated with the transportation and location of the victims,” ​​said a district police official.

Namsai’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Kengo Dirchi is leading the investigation under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Sangey Thinley and in coordination with the Child Protection Committee and the District Child Protection Unit.

According to the police, the investigation is focused on the creation of a complete network of intermediaries, the transportation and placement of children, financial transactions, electronic evidence and other connections connected with the case.

Police are also investigating the roles of some of the people with whom the children were allegedly placed, as well as their parents or guardians, to verify their individual roles and circumstances.
