The Bengaluru East City Corporation (BECC) office was thrown into chaos on Tuesday during a public meeting with Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) chief M. Maheshwar Rao as a large crowd gathered for the event, growing impatient while waiting for their turn. More than 200 people gathered at the BECC headquarters in Mahadevapura and the issues raised were mostly related to building violations, e-khata issues, bad stretches of footpaths, solid waste management and illegal constructions.
A resident of AECS Layout pointed out Mr. Rao about the irregularity of dumpers for garbage collection and said, “Garbage collection is done only once a week, forcing residents to throw garbage on the streets, making it impossible to walk”. The same issue was raised by at least eight residents from the area, with one person asking the corporation to give them poison instead of slowly killing them by spreading disease through the accumulation of garbage.
