An assistant executive engineer in the irrigation department was arrested by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2,000 at Aswaraopeta in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Monday (June 29, 2026).

The accused, Latchubukta Srinivas Rao, was serving as Assistant Executive Engineer in Irrigation Sub-Division I, Aswaraopeta. According to the ACB, he was caught red-handed in the office of the Deputy Executive Engineer, Irrigation Sub-Division I, when he allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe from the complainant.

The ACB alleged that the official demanded money in exchange for granting permission to extract and transport earth from the Donthikunta reservoir, which is adjacent to the agricultural land belonging to the complainant’s uncle in Aswaraopeta village, for filling pits in the agricultural land.

Officials said the tainted ₹2 crore was recovered from the possession of the accused. The ACB alleged that the officer misused his official position by improperly and dishonestly seeking undue advantage.

The accused has been arrested and is being produced before a special judge for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal. Further investigation is underway.
