
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday appointed trustees and fellow citizens for the upcoming assembly elections in various states.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed as BJP’s election in-charge for the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections. His co-accused will be Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal and Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, the saffron party said.
Elections in Assam, Tamil Nadu and Assam are scheduled for 2026.
BJP is making inroads into Tamil Nadu
The BJP has been trying to make inroads in Tamil Nadu for quite some time now. The saffron party won 4 seats in the 2021 parliamentary polls.

Panda is in charge of the Assam elections
Baijayant Panda has been appointed as BJP’s election chief for the upcoming Assam elections. The party said Sunil Kumar Sharma and Darshana Ben Jardosh will be co-accused.
Panda is the National Vice President of the BJP. Sharma is a BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Jardosh is a former Union Minister.
In the 2021 Assam assembly elections, the incumbent BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) retained power with 75 seats. It was the first time that a non-Congress alliance had won consecutive terms in the state. The INC-led Mahajot won 50 seats, up from 26 in 2016.
Biswa Sarma became the Chief Minister of Assam.
